Corbin was born with blondish hair, a smooth chin, and Down Syndrome. I had wanted him to have black hair and a cleft chin like his Daddy, and 46 chromosomes. When the nurse handed him to me I noted those differences only briefly as the love I had felt while growing him in my belly blossomed fully into an all out snuggle fest of kisses and happy tears. Although things turned out different from what I had hoped it is important for everyone to know that not one of those things makes me love him less, or ashamed or disappointed in him and I am no more "sorry" that he has Down Syndrome than I am about his hair color. —
